Background

John has 32 years of IT experience, including 24 years in active military service. John joined the United States Air Force in 1993 and served for 24 years, participating in various operations including the Haitian Crisis, Operation Enduring Freedom, and Operation Iraqi Freedom. His career began as a Medical Technician, during which he supported refugees in Guantanamo Bay and earned recognition with the Air Force Achievement Medal and Humanitarian Service Medal.

In 1997, John transitioned to the Florida National Guard’s 290th Joint Communications Support Squadron, where he cross-trained in communications and provided critical support for USSOCOM operations, hurricane relief efforts, and contributed to technology advancements such as field video teleconferencing. His work during Hurricane Katrina and in other emergencies was recognized with the Florida Commendation Medal.

After 9/11, John supported USSOCOM networks internationally and at MacDill AFB, earning multiple awards including the Joint Meritorious Unit Award and the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal.

He earned an Associate Degree in Information Systems in 2004 and later developed secure web resources for USSOCOM as well as managed VTC operations for senior officials. Following selection into the Warrant Officer Program in 2007, John deployed to Iraq and later focused on network security, risk assessment, and engineering projects for SOCCENT and the National Guard Bureau. John continued his service until 2018 when he retired from the US Army.

After retiring, John continued to support the USSOCOM Mission as a contractor focused on Cybersecurity requirements in the USSOCOM J62 until 2025.
